Summary: Very helpful!
Comment: This is the best biology software that I have tried. It covers all the topics even for the 2005/2006 exams. It is reasonably interactive and has various animations that clarify complex areas of the syllabus. You can choose to have the information read out to you or not and there are exams questions or quick questions; both relevant and both very helpful indeed. This makes learning and revising a Level biology so much easier.

Summary: A Good Supplement for A Level Biologists
Comment: I am currently studying A Level Biology and this software has really helped me through my revision. It is partcularly good in that it contains both quick and exam style questions for each section and will calculate your score after completing each one so that you can check your progress. If you haven't got much memory space on your computer then this is ideal: it can either be installed so there is no need to insert the CD everytime you want to use it, or it will run directly from the CD.
Topics covered include photosynthesis, respiration, homeostasis, biological molecules, the environment and cell structure. I found this software particularly useful on photosynthesis and the nervous system which are explained throughly with a range of diagrams to support the text and if you don't like reading from a computer screen then there is no need to worry because you can chose whether or not to have the main text read out to you.
It doesn't matter what syllabus you are studying I can guarentee that this software package will be of real use to you, taking the stress out of revision and helping you to improve or maintain your grade.A great change from hand-written notes!
Customer Rating:
Summary: The Perfect solution for revision
Comment: I found the strong point of this software was its coverage of the central nervous system which was a topic that I found confusing. After each section there is an option to try either exam style questions or quick questions, which are really useful if you are in the intial stages of revision and want to check how much you have taken in. At the end of the questions it calculates your score and answers are provided after each question. Coverage of homeostasis is particularly good and the presentation of ideas and difficult concepts through the use of diagrams makes learning A-Level Biology a much more rewarding experience.

The Times Education Series A Level Chemistry interactive CD-ROM is designed to help AS and A2 level students "develop a confident approach" to their A level exams. The content has been prepared by chemistry teachers and university lecturers and follows the National Core for Chemistry at Advanced Level. When you first start the program you'll see the main menu of 10 chapters that cover formulae, equations and measuring substances, atomic structure, bonding and molecular structure, energetics, kinetics, equilibria, redox, inorganic chemistry and the periodic table, organic chemistry and analytical techniques. Once you've opened a chapter by clicking on its name you'll see it's divided into sub-sections, each one indicated by a tab at the top of the screen. By clicking on these tabs you can jump easily from section to section. Along the bottom of each screen are navigation buttons which will take you forward and back a page at a time or jump to the beginning or end of each sub-section in the chapter. You can print out parts of a chapter from here too. Each chapter contains text (which you can also have narrated if that helps you concentrate) diagrams, 3-D animations and mini electronic experiments. As you work through the chapters you can click the Quick Questions button to answer questions based on what you've been learning about, or go for the more formal, Exam Questions which will help you prepare for the real thing. You'll also find questions-as-you-go in each individual chapter. As students become confident enough to know the difference between their alkanes and alkenes, they can jump directly to the 10 Quick Question/Exam Question sections. Although the content is challenging, this CD-ROM is very easy to use and will suit students looking to consolidate what they've already learned while preparing for their final exams. --Rob Beattie
