Summary: Could be better...
Comment: I've found this a valuable tool to have installed on my laptop. The "trap" feature which allows you to highlight text and drag it into a box for translation in the dictionary is fantastic! I also found the one-click cross referencing very satisfactory - far quicker than looking up both sides of a bi-lingual dictionary. However, I find the language and terms in this dictionary limited and often find myself reaching for that large dictionary I was so desperate to escape when I bought this software. Overall, its simple to use, great if you're on the move, efficient but in my opinion too concise to replace your normal dictionary.

Summary: Yes, there are gliches but...
Comment: ...it's the best learning tool I've ever used. People seem wary of the crosswords, but I think they're the best part of it, although the always-on-top dictionary is great, and the pronunciation help is wonderful. I can't see how anyone could find a better way of getting a huge vocabulary while having fun. I shall buy them all.

Summary: Am I the only one taken in?
Comment: Reading the reviews and the blurb on the product you'd think you could just press the button and your word document or email would be automatically translated. No such luck. You have to copy and paste or drag and drop your text and then it does one word at a time. What a great help for business and professional use... not.

Comment: Works really well for me, learning french in france, need to look up vocab all the time .... no more scrabbling about in dictionaries, and the pronunciation guide is excellent.
shhoting gallery is a great tool for learning new vocab too.
can't imagine any level that would not help at - from GCSE to degree and beyond.

Summary: Absolutely cracking
Comment: Now, I may be biased, becasue all I was expecting was something where I enter a word in French/English and it translates it, but this package has games too. (Of course they only work if they are used!)
The sound files are large, so it's probably best not to install them, but in this case they can be accessed from the CD. Since the package will run fine without the CD, it is possible to have a French audio CD in the drive and do oral practice with the dictionary open. If the French sound files are required while you have a different CD inthe drive, they can be installed, but will eat up 600Mb of disk space.
Probably the most useful feature is the notepad into which can be pasted a whole passage. If the reader finds an unfamiliar word, simply clicking on it displays a definition and translation.
The only downside to the package is that it doesn't appear possible to make a custom wordlist for crosswords, but, considering that all I wanted was a dictionary, who am I to complain? (Note to the author: Could we see an update for this, maybe?)
This package may save my A/S level French - I really hate flicking through dictionaries!!
