Summary: Comprehensive but clunky
Comment: I work on a Mac. Unlike another reviewer (presumably with a PC), the window does not disappear, but scrolling is impossible, and it's annoying to have to click in another window having cut and pasted the word you're looking for. Horrible graphics that smack of Windows (sorry, pc lovers!). Still, no gripes about the content, but Harraps should look at the Petit Robert cd for an idea on how to do the job.

Summary: An invaluable tool for any French work on the computer
Comment: Unlike other reviewers, I love the Oxford Hachette Super Lex dictionary. I lost it recently and had to resort to the miniscule print of Collins Roberts or my pitifully inadequate school dictionary.
It is amazingly quick to look up a word and easy to find the term needed, there are no heavy books to heave around and the print is clear and large enough to skim through rapidly.
I have also found the lexical notes very useful.
I must agree that I haven't been able to use the search facility, but as a dictionary, pure and simple it is excellent.

Summary: A cumbersome database but packed with detail
Comment: I cannot find a better French / English CD on the market but very disappointing in use. Layout and useability are poor. The application is dreadfully cumbersome. The search facility does not work properly, the colour schemes are ridiculous, scrolling features do not work. My advice is get a decent book and keep looking for a good CD - let me know when you find it !!!

Summary: Good Content, difficult to work with.
Comment: The contents of this dictionary are excellent if rather poorly laid out. I have seldom been unable to find a word or expression but because of the cramped sytle of layout it does take time.
My one big criticism is that it is not possible to leave the Dictionary in a Window on the Word Processor programme while working. As soon as you start to re-type it disappears down to the task bar and needs to be re-opened for the next word you want to check.
I daresay it is execllent for certain academic applications but for anyone wanting to translate letters, documents etc using a WP program and do it quickly this is not the dictionary for you!
