Summary: User-friendly, clear, understandable
Comment: This book is an essential companion for studying A-level Biology. The pages are in full colour with relevant, clear illustrations; the language used is extremely easy to understand. Whenever I did not quite understand a topic, once I looked it up in this textbook it usually all became clear.
One thing I would say that it can be a little simplistic in its treatment of some topics, so that you are best advised to consult another textbook to use in conjunction with this one. The best method (I found) is to approach a new topic with this book to get the general idea, then check against more detailed (and perhaps less user-friendly) books/websites for depth once you have the foundations.

Comment: forget what people say you need a book with only writing i guarantee you the pictures in this book help alot to make u remember the stuff and the writing is extremely in depth and explains everything perfectly definitely worth the price,,,if you want to get an A in biology buy this book you wont be disappointed

Summary: Clear and understandable
Comment: A well written and presentred A level text book, this has concise and readable explanations as well as clear well drawn diagrams to complement the text. This covers both the AS and A level syllabus but is not tied to any one exam board. So be aware that some of the ideas covered may not be required for the board you are taking. However as this is a more complete biology text it will help to stretch the better student and give them more than a syllabus specific text book.
