Summary: The Wave
Comment: I read this book initially when I was a pupil at school. I have recently read it again with a class that I am currently teaching. It has been interesting to consider the issues whilst also being able to look at film reviews for the adapted version 'Die Welle'.
Since reading it for the first time some years ago, it is interesting and very sad to consider the number of wars, dictatorships and heinous acts of genocide that have occurred around the world. I think that whilst the standard of writing in the book is not the best, it still raises some very valuable points. What happened in Germany under Nazi leadership was abhorrent, but we can never stop pointing that out and considering how and why such terrible things did happen.

Summary: Fascinating
Comment: The original experiment had fascinating results that said more about the mass psychology of fascism than William Reich ever did. This novelisation of the experiment (a first?) is a slight, easy to read work that is rather simplistic in its' characterisation and conclusions. If you are expecting great literature you will be disappointed. It is perhaps aimed primarily at the inteligent end of the teenage market. It is entertaining and thought provoking and well worth a quick read. I got through it in three hours straight and at the very least it whetted my appetite for the forthcoming German film of the same name and subject.

Summary: Powerful
Comment: What an amazing story! The worst or best thing about it is that it is based on a true event. Proves how powerful 'suggestion' is and how careful we need to be when being a leader. But also, could we not harness this for good?

Summary: So far, so good.
Comment: I am a tenth grade student and have just been given the assignment to read this book for my English class.
Usually the books we read are extremely boring and educational, and I love to read, so that says something. =] The very first page of "The Wave" was interesting to me. I'm only on Chapter 7 right now, out of the... 17 there are I believe. It is already interesting. It is suspenseful and I love reading the story. It's amazing that something like "The Wave" happened in an actual high school classroom.
You guys really need to read this.
Not only was it entertaining, but now I have 24289428 facts about the Holocaust jammed into my brain. =]

Summary: Full of emotion
Comment: The wave is a book that i had to read for an english assignment. I looked at the front cover and then read the summary as i do with every book i read, and i thought yeah whatever as i normally do with all of my school books.
The Wave is a book in which the holocaust is simulated. A history teacher wants to give his class a feel of what the time period would have been like, but it did not go according to plan.
In fact it went too well, the simulation actually turned into an everyday situation. As in the holocaust those who were opposed to it were punished or looked down upon, some were even hurt physically. Where as the participants (members) of the wave thought that they were equal, however as the reader you can see that in their civilization they might feel equal but they are not equal with the other student who aren't participating.
Well i wont spoil any more of it for you, but this book is really worth a read, i couldn't put it down, it's fascinating, and above all it teaches us about life and discrimination.
READ IT PLEASE
