Summary: 'Verbose' wouldn't do it justice...
Comment: A book which models itself on some of the more circuitious judgements of our Law Lords - the sort of book which will take a page to say what could quite easily to stated in a few setences.
While it scholary level of detail is to be admired it just requires a bit of time to extract all of the relevant detail leaving the obvious question as too whether it it could be more tailored to the undergraduate level.
Will contain far too much of a historical slant on for some but if persevered with it will greatly improve your knowledge of tort.

Summary: Useful for students
Comment: Using this book, I achieved a first in Tort on the Graduate Diploma in Law. Yes, it is broad but it is also readable and accessible, especially when compared to other books such as Winfield and Jolowicz.

Summary: Dreadful- read a proper book
Comment: I was horrified when my son returned from his first term at University with a copy of this dustbin of a book last year. Whilst it claims to be authoritative, more then 22 years experience in this field reveals that nothing less than a "Proper" book, such as Clerk & Lindsell on Torts, plus reading of cases IN FULL will suffice if you want to do well in this area. So long as you keep your wits about you, tort, like many other areas of law, is not massively difficult. As most students want to become legal professionals, I urge you to get off your backside and do the work properly- you'll be grateful in the long run!
NB, this book was saved from a 1 star rating purely because my son managed to acquire a book that is even worse- Tort in a Nutshell. This book will guarantee you failing your LLB tort exam (as experience has shown).

Comment: This book is one which has tried to cover as many of the issues surrounding the law of tort as possible. The format is one which is comprehensive, and has impressively included a whole library of useful material for the law student.
