Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Useful just to talk - but not to write or read Comment: I found this book very useful for grammar, but it shows words only in romanized version, not with kanji hiragana or katakana. In this way you learn only the word pronunciation, but not how to recognize, read and write in Japanese. For a starter (like me), by seeing the Japanese characters would also make it easier to remember the words. I'm finding it difficult (and meaningless) to study only with this book, and I have to write the Japanese words in the book by the help of a dictionary.
