Comment: So much in one book! You get a great bible translation with fantastic notes and cross-referencing. There are also carefully written and very informative sections at the back of the bible to help you understand key areas of Christianity.
Do not discard the leaflet that comes in the back of the bible, it has a small scratch-off section that gives you a code for access to the online version! It is amazing, once you have set up your account (very simple to do, email and password only) you will have full access to this bible online, along with the added advantage of being able to listen to it and add/save your own notes. In addition, the commentary and cross-referencing are easier to read as you just need to hover your mouse over them or click them to take you straight to where you want to go next.
A lot of work has gone into this volume, it is well worth the money.

Summary: Looks set to be THE study bible to have
Comment: I already have a couple of ESV Study Bibles (Scofield and Reformation) as I really like the translation of the ESV, but this is better.
Unusually, it prints the text (in 9pt type) in a single column (like ordinary books) with the cross references in the left margin, and study notes below in two columns in smaller type.
Also unusual (and very welcome) is that it has colour maps (where relevant) on the same page as the text, as well as a map section on thicker paper at the back.
The other bonus is that you get a code number that gives you access to the online text, notes, maps and diagrams; plus you can personalise your notes online (though I haven't tried that yet).
People say it's too big at 2750 pages; but it is more manageable than (for example) the New Interpreters Study Bible (NRSV) which has fewer pages, but in a wider format.
I can see this being THE study bible that others will have to try to emulate.

-----Over 50 articles on subjects

-----This is a Study Bible and Theological textbook in one volume
-----Study notes are balanced, for example in the book of Revelation all views are represented and explained clearly with the help of charts.

------Followed by about 160 pages of articles.
------Followed by about 80 page concordance.
------Then additional maps.
------Colour maps are outstanding.
If you want a deeper Study Bible this could be for you.
ESV has raised the standard of Bible Study much higher, deeper than NIV study bible.

Comment: The best study bible I have ever owned - the ESV text being essentially literal is accurate not simplistic yet accessible for the average reader. The notes, maps and articles far surpass those I have read in any other study Bible for their depth and quality. If you want a bible that draws you in to further deeper study this is the one.
