Summary: Interesting

Comment: It is a fact that of the thousands of thoughts we have every day 95% are regurgitated from the day before? How bad is that?

I was swapped this book and had no clue what it was about. It starts in a court room where an older overweight lawyer drops down with a massive heart attack. He goes away somewhere and years later returns looking younger, fitter and happier than ever. His old colleague wants to know the secret.

At this apex in the book it looked pretty downhill to me as I realised at this point that it was clearly a self help book and not a murder mystery as I had hoped. Luckily I stuck with it and night after night learnt quite a few tips which I think are rather good.

To live, as the book suggests in peaceful harmony, would require the reader to become a tibetan monk, but you don't have to take it all on board. It is possible to pick and choose and all the ideas are a good way to live anyway.

To clear your mind - I like the suggestion that every night you write or reflect on the positive things that have occurred during the day. Then plan to build on them the following day. This has a very therapeutic effect and the good thing is that the positive thoughts do not have to be major events. Smelling a rose, seeing a sunset, a pleasant conversation are all to be included. There are many other ideas of this ilk which we can all learn from.

Towards the end of the book the author tells the story of a Selfish Giant in India. I cannot help but be suspicious about the source of this story as it is exactly the same as the Selfish Giant from England as told by Oscar Wilde. I don't know who plagarised who's story but someone is not really that truthful. I do hope that our dear Oscar can still be held in high esteem.

Summary: ENLIGHTENMENT

Comment: i have to say this book is amazing.....it makes you realise that you have to live your life to the full and enjoy every moment of it. one of the best quotes in this book which i do quote to all my friends is something along these lines "when at the end of your life you will never say you wished you worked more hours but you will say you wished you spent more time with the ones you love" i have started to use this in my life now and i appreciate my family more!!! if this book could just give that message to some of its readers then what an achievment that would be. i recommend it to anyone who is looking for more fulfilment in life and happiness

Summary: Decide to Really Live

Comment: Robin S. Sharma has weaved a story that is as simple as it is profound, as a wonderful way of sharing his knowledge on how to really get the most out of life - how to Really Live, compared to settling for much less than we are capable of. Not only did The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari inspire me to believe that living a magnificent and full life was possible, but it expanding my idea of just how magnificent it can be. Life is a gift, how will you give it today?

Summary: SAVE YOUR MONEY!!

Comment: I think this author must have laughed all the way to the bank in amazement that people could actually swallow this story. I definitely found it hard to swallow, however, I persisted and finished it as I had heard it was worth a read. The story is totally unbelievable with little to offer in relation to inspiration. A five year old may find parts of this book interesting! There are plenty of great spiritual books to buy... so don't buy this one.

Summary: This book changed my life

Comment: I read this book while I was on holiday; taking a much needed break from a job that was driving me mad and grinding me down. This book really got me to think about my life and what was important to me so I handed my notice in the day I got back to work. I found a new job surprisingly easily and am now earning more money, for less hours and doing a job that I love. If a book can help me do all that it can't be bad (even if it is a little bit patronising at times). Well worth reading.
