Summary: A good introduction to psychology

Comment: This book is a very good introduction to psychology. It is very readable with short sections and the text is broken up with research studies and expert opinions.

Summary: Very clear and easy to understand

Comment: I bought this book when doing my A-Level, and used it frequently. I found the "key study" boxes which are included throughout the text particularly helpful, as the exams expect you to know these. The text is well set out, so easy to read and the content isn't too heavy to read after 5 minutes like some others! I am continuing my studies further in Psychology and I still use this book, as the subjects are easily transferable to higher levels (especially the stats). A very useful resource to have on your bookshelf!

Summary: What would Freud think of that?

Comment: As an A-level student I have found this book an essential part of my course. The authors have made it clear and precise what is expected of you in an exam and also in your practical work. Although not a book that will have your eyes mystified, it will give you clear and precise knowledge without whaffling on too much. For a more in depth account of psychological research though it may not be your first choice. 3 and a half may have been fairer!

Summary: Fantastic, a must have for any student of Psychology

Comment: This was an absolutley fantastic book which I refered to many times during my A level psychology. Clearly written and easy to understand while at the same time containing relevent and up to date information. If you only buy one book this year, buy Hitch Hikers guide to the galaxy. If you choose to buy two however and wish to have, the in my opinion, definitive A level text then buy 'Psychology for A-Level by Cardwell Clark & Meldrum, et al'.

Customer Rating: Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5

Summary: mostly ok, but weak on developmental psychology

Comment: There is some really good material in this book, especially the physiological and individual differences chapters. However, the AS developmental section is poorly written, and weakens the value of the book as a whole. I can't see the difference between the AS developmental chapter in this book and the parallel chapter in Eysenck's AS level book.
