Summary: Not for me
Comment: I persevered with this one after other reviewers said that it wasn't a dual time period novel. Still didn't make any difference to me. I have come to the conclusion that I just don't like B Erskine's style of writing. I cannot immerse myself in her books and lose myself like I can many other authors. I read Lady of Hay previously and to be honest - hated it. I find the premise of Barbara Erskine's novels unbelievable and long drawn out. The style of modern and ancient worlds overlapping and the constant changing from one world to another distracting and irritating.

Summary: child of the pheonix
Comment: Absolutely fab! One of Barbara Erskine's best novels. Wonderful story full of history, supernatural, fiction with elements of truth all based round a truly amazing heroine. Very highly recommended.
This was the first book I read from this author and I have since worked my way through all her other published work.
Can't wait for her new book out later this year!

Summary: Bext book ever!!!!
Comment: I love this book, I have never ever read a book more than once, I can watch movies again and again, but this is the only book I have ever read again and could read again and again. I love the historic element and the story intertwining.. love it, love it.

Summary: Awesome piece of Fiction!
Comment: And fiction it is, based upon historical characters and NOT historical fiction. The main character, Elyne, is (according to the author's notes at the end) a composite of two characters, one of them being Ellen, the daughter of Llewellyn the Great and Joanna. I admit to being a bit put off at the first part of the book at the characterizations of some of the Welsh court, particularly Joanna. Having read SKP's Here be Dragons, and having adored Joanna and Llewlleyn and their great love, I admit to grumbling abit at having Joanna being portrayed as such a sanctimonious biddy.
Then I realized this was strictly a piece of fiction and I kicked back and thoroughly enjoyed the story. Lots of truly evil villains, two timing fasle tongued kings, some wonderful heros and a spooky ghost or two. What more can you ask for in a book?
Apparently some of the reviewers were put off by the size of the book. It went very quickly for me, but then I'm the type that doesn't like to read any book under 500 pages if I can help it.

Summary: Simply Wonderful!
Comment: What an amazing book - my favourite book of all time. The characters, the plots, the consistently enthralling storyline, the description and the depth of our heroine Eleyne make this a book a cut above the rest. It's why we read books.
