Summary: Awesome netbook in a nice tight little package

Comment: I bought this for my 15 year old daughter and could not be more pleased. She uses it all the time. The screen, at first, seemed really tiny to me but I got used to it right away - I was also concerned about durability but if your teenagers are anything like mine then you have nothing to worry about - this thing is a brick and one amazing little gizmo. My wife and I like our daughter's so much that we're getting another one for the family just to have in the living room for browsing while we watch TV.

Summary: ASUS eeePC 900 16BG

Comment: Awesome Netbook! I did have a problem with it after receiving it, it ran very slowly and after two days the screen gave out. I contacted ASUS and the had me ship it to them for repair. One of the requirements was not to send it US mail as the unit has a higher percentage of being damaged. (This is how it was shipped to me from Amazon). The unit was not repairable and they shipped me a new one. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. This is a great tool. Quick and fast on start up, easily customizable and everything worked out of the box.

Only gripe is that Amazon SHOULD NOT USE THE USPS for shipping, this is what caused the damage.

Summary: Great Mobile Laptop

Comment: I am not going to say this is a perfect laptop. But you have to go into it knowing it is underpowered and undersized. I use eeectl to juice up the cpu a bit and i can actually get an instance of wow to run on the lowest settings. I use a 16gb sd card as a second drive and this has replaced my other laptops when i travel locally. The size, weight, webcam, sound quality, speed (with eeectl in use) is really good for most users that want to brows the web, listen to internet radio etc...

Windows XP home is worth the extra money for most users instead of linux, i have nothing agains linuc but if you are buying this pc then you probably want to go with something a bit more user friendly.

THE ONLY DOWNSIDE i really think this pc has is upgrading its ram on the 900 series if difficult because there are issues with certain ram not working or you have to get a low power consumption ramstick to upgrade, a it of a hassle when upgrading your laptop. Thats why this gets 4o5 stars

Summary: Tech Support / Warranty Return sucks

Comment: The title says it all: Tech Support / Warranty Return sucks. It took several calls and all of a day to finally get an RMA. Asus has had the unit (PC 900 XP)in their hands now for two weeks -- I've heard nothing from them about status of repair or about the return of repaired/replacement unit.

Summary: Compact, cute and SLOW

Comment: Purchased my EEE 900 for 369. Happy with its size. Easy to carry. Disappointed with its speed. Seems quite slow compared to my desktop. If you're used to faster than 900 speed you'll be disappointed when you expect this machine to function as your desktop does. Have researched CPU upgrades and they are minimal. No easy upgrades available because the CPU seems sodered in to the motherboard so upgrades require alot of work.
