Summary: very very good for beginners
Comment: this book is very good for beginners or those with a little bit of background. I had 2 years of Spanish in High School and 2 years in college. If you're looking into writing and reading the language this is very good. But if you want to speak or understand Spanish in normal conversation speed i suggest you get it in AUDIO format, watch telenovelas and listen to spanish lyrics. Anything to familiarize yourself with the tone.
Like any language, it is easiest to learn if spoken everyday. English is not my first language but it was so easy to learn because it is rampant in both television and print (for most part of the world anyway).
give this book time and effort. maybe half an hour to an hour a day. most of the exercises are really really basic. you will think that if you skip it, it might not be a big deal to your learning process. believe me, it will make a big difference. you will write down sentences, identify illustrations, and, if you want, read them out loud.
all in all its a good learn-it-yourself tool, especially for the price.

Comment: This book is essentially the same book sold as "Spanish Now! Book 1". It has the same stories and exercises. I bought both books thinking I would have two study resources. I was dismayed to find nearly identical content! Save your money and buy Spanish Now! Book instead.
