Summary: Thumbs up from a rads resident

Comment: As a current radiology resident in Virginia, I have checked out this book at the bookstore and its way better than the book we have traditionally been teaching our med students from (Squire).

This is the same author as the website Learningradiology.com which has alot of this material online for free. We basically teach our medstudents off of Learningradiology.com. So if anyone was wondering what they should be reading for a rads elective- its this book, or at least the website.

Summary: Great Product

Comment: Great book. the information is in bullet format, so it is very easy to read and niavigate. Key points are layed out in such ease that you will not miss them unless you are an idiot. it is THE book to get for radiology, i have several other books that are standard text and were very dissappointed with them. This makes learning radiology fun and easy. and LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of films to illustrate any point, the key to a good radiology book. I wish this book would have been out when I had started.

Summary: A terrific introduction to radiology

Comment: This book manages better than any of the other fundamental radiology texts I've read to be complete enough to give you a solid foundation in radiology and short enough that it can easily be read on an elective or for a focused course or exam.

The book provides a basis in all areas of radiology with emphasis on plain films, because that is what we see most as beginners. But it also covers the fundamentals of body and head CT scans, including the most commonly found diseases, GI studies and everything in musculoskeletal radiology from arthritis through fractures, back pain and bone tumors.

Besides the text, you gain access to about 50 or so interactive and really great, case-based tutorials and anatomy quizzes on the web that provide practical experience for most clinically relevant imaging problems. If you're looking for an inclusive, yet easily manageable fundamental text that will help you through your electives, exams or clinical work, I recommend this book.

Summary: An okay introduction to radiology.

Comment: At times I found this book to be lacking in detail. This book may not cover enough material to be complete enough for an elective in radiology and it is certainly inadequate for anyone interested in radiology. It is particularly lacking in most of the subspecialties (e.g. neuroradiology, GI, body, more in-depth MSK) of radiology. It does, however, lay out some basic principles and relevant conditions/injuries in a simple, straight-forward, no-nonsense formula. I suppose as a primer for the field, it could be useful. I would recommend for students on rotations to take out a more comprehensive radiology book (i.e. Essential Radiology by Thieme publishing co.) from their med school library rather than purchase a perfunctory text that will be of little use with more experience or specialization.

Summary: Great for learning the basics

Comment: I'm a PA student and we didn't spend a lot of class time on radiology. When I had to take a test I needed a good review. This book worked really well and was easy to get through. I recommend it.
