Summary: more practice for your basic Turkish
Comment: This is the kind of thing you can use in your car as you drive. Three CDs of audio instruction and a small book with English and Turkish for two CDs and resources for the third. As one reviewer points out, three Turkish letters are wonky because the printer didn't check his fontset -- no big deal.
The format for the first two CDs of ten conversations:
- New vocabulary for the conversation
- The conversation
- Explanation of what's going on language-wise in the lesson
- Practice where you take one side of conversation
- Practice where you take the other side
Lessons are about 15 minutes long altogether. The 48pp book is useful but not necessary to do the lessons. The final CD is a handful of shorter lessons where you listen to conversations, answer questions about them, and then are told the answers. Kind of an application/review thing.
All of the TY Conversation sets seem to have this format and at the price are well worth it for three more hours of practicing your languages.

Comment: I needed a quick introduction into Turkish after we hired a native Turkish speaker with very limited English language skills. As a manager, I needed to be able to start communicating right away. Within 24 hours of buying this 3-cd set, I was able to start talking with my new employee and training her in her job.
This product, combined with a decent dictionary, is a perfect quick intro to the langugae. It is not for the aspiring "Turkish scholar" however, as vocab and grammar are limited. I concur with the previous review. The typos are really baffling, and that's what keeps me from giving this product five stars.

Comment: The other reviewer is right in that the accompanying booklet contains baffling superscripts that are clearly misprints. Even the author's name on the cover is afflicted with this error, so hopefully TY will remedy this quickly on the next batch.
Still, once I got past the frustration of the book, I found this set to be a very useful supplement to your Turkish studies. I would not use this alone, but in conjunction with a text (such as the very good TY Beg. Turkish) these 10 conversations made up of multiple parts will be very helpful in reinforcing basic concepts and core vocabulary. All for around $20, it's a pretty good deal and a lot of audio for the money.
With a little bit of effort or exposure to another text, you can easily see what the mistake in the text is meant to be, and just correct it with a pencil. That's what I did and the typo problem doesn't really bother me any longer. Still, it is a serious error on the part of the publisher, but one that shouldn't discourage you from using the very useful audio on these 3 CDs.
